Also known as phacoemulsification or phaco. The fixed price is available on request. During surgery the cloudy lens is removed and a clear artificial lens inserted. Surgery is usually performed under topical (drops rather than injection) anaesthetic and overall you can expect the whole procedure to take about 15 to 25 mins. I work with insurance companies and offer competitive self-pay prices if you do not have health insurance. Fixed price: comprising of hospital fee, surgeon fee and one follow up consultation. My surgeon's fee remains the same regardless of surgical complexity. Additional fees: Cost of premium lens (if requested) plus additional charge for interpretation and calculation of required premium lens. If "enhanced" surgery is required, additional charges to cover hospital costs of single use equipment, for example iris expansion devices in the presence of small pupils. Cost of non standard anaesthetic if required.
